They also met with staff from the Manila Human Resources Operations (MHRO), the Labour Migration Unit (LMU), the Migrants Assistance and Protection Programmes (MAP), the Migration Health Centre (MHC) and the Resettlement and Movement Management Division.
The Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) team was honoured to welcome the Minister and to have this opportunity to discuss the positive outcomes of pre-arrival information and orientation services to newcomers to Canada. Minister McCallum toured the COA offices and debriefed on COA and the Planning for Canada initiative with the team.
From the inception of its permanent training operation in Manila; that is, from August 2002 to April 1, 2016, COA provided orientation to more than 65,000 Filipino immigrants preparing for their move to Canada.
Minister McCallum expressed his appreciation of IOM’s range of services in support of Canada’s humanitarian and economic objectives.
